Dinner at Zensho is our reward!

Zensho, Tomas Morato, Quezon City
Zensho is an Ala Carte all-you- can
Japanese restaurant. It's HubB's favorite buffet
place for Japanese cuisine.
Drink all you can Pandan Gulaman and Iced Tea.
Squid Teppanyaki
Pork Curry
Beef Teppanyaki and Yasai Itame

The squid, curry and beef dishes were all for Alvin
since I don't like eating squid and
beef because they're a bit tough.
(Not that I don't have chompers,
I actually have a complete set of them!)
Ebi Tempura and Agedashi Tofu
Japanese Fried Rice without Garlic

I had the tempura, tofu and fried rice.
Parang baliktad kami.
Alvin eats more like an old person
while I eat like a picky child.
Must be second childhood. Hahaha
***
Two collages of Zensho dinners which I didn't
write about because of "royal laziness".

Dinner at Zensho is more like a reward after doctor's
appointments at St Luke's or UERM.

We drove an hour and a half to get to the hospital.
Waited three hours before I got to see my doctor.
I was number 9 in the list, and the last.
Left the house at 1:30 in the afternoon.
Got home at 9:30 in the evening.
Hmmm ... eight long hours.
Ok lang... tired but  quite full and happy.

Went back to Kuya J

I just had to go back to Kuya J
and even brought Alvin with me.
I couldn't stop talking about their karekare
and really needed to eat it again... and again!

Now, I have another dish to talk about.
It's sinuglaw.
Sinuglaw is sinugba and kinilaw.
Sinugba means grilled.
Kinilaw or kilawin is
usually fresh raw fish  soaked in vinegar.
The kinilaw is sour and spicy while
the sinugba or grilled marinated pork is  sweet.
The dish was served with some crispy spinach
or kangkong.  If you eat these all together,
it's like a fiesta for your palate.
YUMMY!

Impromptu Despedida Merienda with Lots of Love on V-Day

***
Cheers!  See you again soon Dr Eleanor.
***
Store bought Roast Chicken & Rellenong Bangus.
Ate Nene's Beef Asado and Spaghetti.
Impromptu everything!
We were supposed to eat at Buffet 101 ... Sayang!
Ate Nene's quick / easy to make fruit salad.
Since I couldn't cook or bake due to lack of time
and some physical constraints,
I served chocolates for dessert.
The kids wiped out the chocolates.

Quick lunch at Kuya J

Crispy Kangkong
Masarap ito! Crispy garlicky kangkong leaves.
Lumpiang Shanghai... ok lang ito!
Beef Karekare
... underneath all those vegetables were chunks
of tender beef brisket, not fatty tripe or ox tail skin.
Value for money. Must eat all the time with
bagoong.  Masarap talaga ito!

With another balikbayan from LA, Wen the Pooh
and my favorite lawyer, Atty Susie.
Both  dear classmates and groupmates in high school.

Had a quick lunch with old high school friends.
Our houses are about seven minutes away from each other.
Atty Susie who lives in Alta Vista
picked me up and then we went to Wen the Pooh's
house in Loyola Memorial Subdivision.
Where else would be the nearest place to have
a quick lunch? eh di sa SM Marikina.

Atty Susie... Thanks for the lunch treat and the
pretty blouse from Uniclo.
Wen the Pooh ... Thanks for the pasalubong.
Just love the perks of being a birthday celebrator!

UP Pre-Dental Association at Sentro 1771, Capitol Commons

Fried Vegetable Spring Rolls
Lemon and Cucumber Slush
Sinigang na Corned Beef
This is the specialty of the house!
When I said this, my balikbayan friend laughed.
She said that her sister in law said those exact
same words. Funny? Hmmmm....
Pancit Palabok ... I love the chicharon on top
but the palabok needed thicker denser sauce or
they could have used thinner noodles.
Just saying ...
Adobong Kangkong and Inihaw na Liempo
Coffee Sansrival ... Yum!
Sweetened fried kamote ...Yummier!
Sweetened fried bananas or plantains ... Yummiest!

Two of my dearest, if not closest, friends from way back.
Photo opportunity while we waited for the rest of
the group, who were all stuck in traffic ...
only because it was a Friday!
Dr Joy finally able to join us.
She was down with the  flu last week and couldn't
join us at Tipsy Pig.
Thanks for taking time to meet up with old pals from
UP Diliman.  Thanks for your gift of time but
also for the Betty Boop tumbler, make up, cookies,
chocolates and caffeine free tea.

I just love this whole two weeks.
Celebrating my birthday over and over.
You all made me feel loved!

Dinner at Shinjuku with a dear friend ...

Shinjuku Ramen House
Katipunan Extension, QC

It's been a long while since I've dined at Shinjuku.
I don't really care for ramen or soup, but
Alvin loves Japanese ramen, or just about
anything Japanese.

My friend, Dr Angge met up with me the night
before she flew back to Malaysia.
This is another balikbayan get together.
because all the balikbayans are home.in February.
I said that a-gazillion times!!!

Mabo Tofu Ramen
Moyashi Itame
Butakakuni
This is the most tender, sweet but not annoyingly
over sweet pork-loin.  It was so delicious,
it tasted like Christmas.  Meron bang ganun?
haha
Shinjuku Chahan
I love rice. I love fried rice more.
I love more fried rice most.
haha
Beef Yakitori Set Meal

Thanks Dr Angge, aka Tita Angel.
Thanks for making time and spending time with us.
Thank you for the Ikea pasalubong again
and again and again.

My birthday perks ... 2016

I was looking for the HubB when I woke up
and Alvin said that he left.
Hmmm ... he probably took his motorcycle
for a ride around the subdivision or something.
Or he probably got me some flowers.
Asa na naman. hahaha

OO nga. he came home with these red roses.
Salamat so much!

I took several photos with different backgrounds.
Why?  .... Why not?
These will wilt and die in a couple of days.
So, I might as well immortalize them through
pictures. Okay?
***
I spent my birthday with the two boys who
love me most.  Treated them to my favorite
restaurant.  So, off we went to Eastwood.
It was Chinese New Year.
There were Dragon Dancers at the Lobby.
Quite festive and their drums were extremely noisy.
Hearts and Chinese lanterns.
Lucky Tree

Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year and
my birthday ... all in one week.
How often does that happen?
I wouldn't really know but I hope
it'll bring me lots of luck this year
and for the years to come.
***
Complimentary Foccacia Buns
Italian Salad ... it had arugula.
I don't really like the bitter taste of the arugula.
But this time, the arugula wasn't that bitter.
It was more nutty and tasted quite good,
Eaten with the olives, tomatoes and the vinaigrette,
the arugula salad was delicious and
seemed to be the perfect combination.
Ravioli ... I could eat this everyday.
The lunch portion has more cream and cheese than
the regular portion.  I could have ordered three of these.
But Alvin likes the pork chops at Italianni's.
and the HubB wanted to eat pizza.
The boys didn't want dessert.
Oh ... too bad.

Thanks for the roses, the dinner and for loving me
.... warts and all... este fats and all!
hahaha
