Cha-cha's Cocina Mexicana, Spring 2016

Cha-cha's Cocina Mexicana
Stanford Ranch Rd., Rocklin, CA
That's me with my sister.
Thanks for another Mexican lunch treat for Alvin.
***
As we entered this intricately carved wooden door,
we were transported to a remarkable, incredibly
pretty Mexican restaurant.  Before going to our
table, we took photos of almost every nook
and cranny of Cha-cha's Cocina Mexicana..

He must have loved the place and allowed
me to take his solo picture. Smile!

Alvin and moi finally seated.
As soon as we got seated, we were
served a basket of Nachos and salsa.
 Our frozen margaritas.
If I am not mistaken,  this is the chimichanga,
which is a deep fried burrito.

***

The Rock
A sizzling molcajete filled with “rajas” --
bell peppers with onions sautéed in a creamy
chipotle sauce -- topped with a sampling of
skirt steak, grilled chicken breast & tiger prawns.
Served with corn or flour tortillas.
***
My plate of French Fries.
I can subsist with bread, fried rice and French fries.
Oh yes,,, the carbo-loader!
 ***
This is the door of the women's comfort room.
If all women's comfort room doors
looked like this one,  I will never again
make the mistake of entering the
male's comfort room ... ever!
Pretty interiors even inside the comfort room.\

On the Border Mexican Restaurant, Spring 2016

The fiesta starts now at
On The Border Mexican Restaurant.
Pretty light fixtures.
My sister just had to take a photo of this one.
Thanks Sis !!!
***
I'm still wondering ... what is that thing up there?
Can you tell me? Please...
Nice interiors ...
But we opted to get seated in a booth.
More comfy chairs in booths.
Sombreros y  Ponchos
***

Complimentary Tortillas with extremely spicy salsas.
Root beer and a chilled mug,
(Trivia ... do you know that these mugs aren't really
chilled for hours in the freezer?  Restaurants or pubs have this
"instant chilling machine".  Click Frosted Mugs in an Instant!

A plate with everything on it.
That's what Alvin got for himself.

It came with these veggies too.

***

Fajitas for my sister and me.
Since we don't really like Mexican food.
But everytime Alvin is asked what he'd like
to eat, he'd say Mexican! Or Burgers!

OKAY!!! Have your fill son!
This vacay is for you anyway.
***
He still smiles when I insist on having a picture taken
with his dear old Mom.

There was this blackbird outside the
restaurant.  Kinda feels like being in
Mexico.  How should I know right?
I haven't been to Mexico.
haha ... maybe next time!

Burger and Sandwich Overload

In & Out Burger .. is always our first meal whenever
we visit my sister in Roseville. That's a given!
Then .. upon waking up the next morning or was it
noon already? ... There were burgers on the table.
My sister got Krush burgers and fries.
When she alsked my son what he wanted to eat,
Alvin wanted American BURGERS!!!
So that's what we had for the next few weeks.
***
Squeeze Burger with Cheese Skirt ... oh that's a new one.
100% fresh ground beef, a hefty 1/3 lb. patty served on a fresh baked sesame seed bun from a local bakery. Topped with mayo, mustard, dill pickle, tomato, onions & lettuce. Burgers come with a single serving of fries or a side salad which can be upgraded to garlic fries, onion rings, or sweet potato fries plus a CHEESE SKIRT.
That's  what makes it different from the other burgers.
***
My sister brought us to Red Robin. My other sister
from Chicago was the one who told us about this
burger place.  Instead of wine paitings, they
have BEER pairings.  HubB would love it here!
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers & Brews
Click Red Robin for more info.
***
Carl's Jr is the nearest fastfood place from my sister's
house.  It's probably a 15 minute walk for a normal
young person.  It'll take me an hour to get here, so, we drove.
I remember having one of my son's birthday parties at
a Carl's Jr. branch in Katipunan many years back.
I really wish they'd open a branch in Manila again.
***
Studio Movie Grill's Burger & Fries
Since we didn't really have an itinerary except to watch
Batman v Superman,  we watched movies during
our short vacation.  This movie house serves grilled burgers
flat breads and other American faves.
Their theater seats had tables so you
can eat comfortably while enjoying  a movie.
***
Subway's "healthy" sandwiches.
I don't eat Subway sandwiches here in Manila
because they aren't like the ones in the States.
Must be because of the veggies. Alvin always eats Subway
here or there... anywhere!
***
I had to force , hehe, my sister to bring us to Arby's.
I cannot NOT eat my favorite sandwich.
Alvin had the roast beef sandwich with probably
everything on it.
This is Doc Chito's sandwich.
This is my sister's.. but she couldn't finish them.
Too much. Too big servings.
This is my favorite sandwich in the entire universe.
Arby's Reuben!!!
I wish there's Arby's in Manila.
Where is the nearest Arby's ???
Hmmm. ... Guam or Hawaii???
Kelan ko kaya ito matitikman ulit?
Sino kaya uuwi sa Pilipinas?
Gosh... desperate cravings need desperate moves.
***
Oh well... this is the first blog post of our short vacay
in Roseville.  Kelan kaya kami ulit magbisita?
For now ... I'll just read my blog over and over.
.. and satisfy my cravings with photos of burgers
and Reubens ... haha

Burger and Fries at the SFO airport.
His dinner, the night we left for Manila.
