I only had these canned goodies in my cupboard

These were the only things in my cupboard. 
I don't have a pantry full of canned goods because 
my pantry only has dinner plates,
 glasses, serving plates, chargers and chafing dishes.

For starters. I made hor d'oeuvres, which are food items served 
before the main meal. I had to Google the word because I couldn't 
spell it correctly. Hahaha ...  These are Crackers topped with
canned potted meat and grated cheddar cheese. Yummy! 
********

(LO means leftover)

... and we even had Sliced Peaches for dessert!

I used pork instead of beef in my sukiyaki!

I used pork instead of beef in my sukiyaki!
I like pork. . . not a very nice thing to say today
when a lot of people against 'pork' were at the Luneta.
Sorry guys. I love pork. hahaha ... the one that is eaten.

Used these ingredients.

Since I couldn't find mirin in the grocery, 
I  used a little brown sugar to sweeten the broth.
********
Table Setting.
Fried Chicken Slices & Carrots... used Panko bread crumbs.

Used my bento boxes again

I just had to use the bento boxes again!

Corn Soup ... Hubby loves soup!
Prawn or Squid Crackers
Shrimps and Pork
Crispy Fried Pork ... Son loves pork.
Steamed Shrimps
Cinnamon Mini Donuts 
Let's eat!
Dinner is served. Bento boxes used to store leftovers in the fridge.
I love my 88-peso bento boxes!

Arroz ala Cubana with a twist

Arroz ala Cubana
I used banana chips and  salted red egg
instead of the usual fried bananas and sunny side up egg. 
(I forgot to take a photo of the actual plate and just
cropped this from the photo of the table setting.)

You will need these.
********
I was in a hurry so I placed everything in the pan.
Added the ground beef when the vegetables were tender.
Season with salt, sugar, black pepper, soy sauce, fish sauce,
tomato sauce or ketchup and a little vinegar.
You may add raisins if you have some.
Serve with banana chips and salted egg.

Shrimps and Cashew

Cashew from Puerto Princesa
Php 280 per kilo
You will need these.
Chop the vegetables into bite size pieces.
********
Saute the onions and ginger.
Add the vegies.
Then the chopped bell peppers.
Add the shrimps. 
I used precooked and peeled shrimps.
Add the cashews last.
Season with oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar and salt.
Thicken with cornstarch and water mixture.
Table setting.
Son ate ahead because he came from school
and was quite hungry. 
The chicken arroz caldo soup and arroz ala cubana
were still cooking, not ready to be served.

Lunch after Puerto Princesa Underground River Tour, Palawan

That's my plate and only ate half of what's on it.
That's how horrible this lunch was. The tour and the "buffet" ??? 
lunch cost Php 1500 per person. So not worth it.

As I was looking around, there was this lady selling "tamilok".
Php 100 per serving. I got two. One for the Hubby and the other for
Ate Nene and Dr. Margie.
It came with this vinegar garlic and chili dipping sauce.
There were four pieces of tamilok per serving.
Btw, tamilok is a wood worm.
Our tour guide gave the Hubby instructions on how
to eat the tamilok. He said, "Do not cut the tamilok.
You have to eat it whole."
YUK!!! soooo yuk!!!

Dr. Margie excited to eat the tamilok.

Oh my ....

How did it taste?  Hubby said it tasted like clams,  more like
oysters. But he would rather eat oysters. 
That's Php 25 a piece or 50 US cents.

I don't eat mussels or oysters. 
I will never try this tamilok.
