I wanted to bring my friend to a new restaurant that's near
our place. She has been eating out a lot since the day she
arrived from Malaysia. I thought that it would be good to try this
new place in White Plains that serves vegetables / salads with
edible flowers. There was so much hype about Earth Kitchen
and their parking lot seemed to be full all the time. So I avoided it
for a long time. I also read somewhere that they didn't have
air-conditioning. Hmmm. But when I checked newer blogs, they
mentioned that I should call ahead, reserve a table and
that the place is already air-conditioned.
There weren't many customers on a Friday evening and when
we left at 9 pm, there were only three tables occupied.
The dishes that we tried were okay. Yun lang.
It would have been better if they served bigger portions
or placed two or three more flowers in their dishes.
Will I go back? Maybe I will because I liked their
Ravioli and would want the Son to taste it.
But then ... maybe not.
The waiters seemed to be a bit offensive, just a bit.
I could see them whispering with each other and giggling.
They might be sharing some personal jokes but it isn't
a nice thing to do and shouldn't be done if they were
professional, for lack of better words to describe them.
Then, it was taking them too long to bring back the
credit card transaction. I could see them and it seemed
that the cashier wasn't really doing anything, sort of
like not even trying to swipe the card, or check if their
phone lines were working. After a long wait,
the waiter came back and asked me if I could
pay in cash instead. He said, "The computer and the
credit card of the previous customer caused the system
to HANG." I looked around and there seemed to be
no one else paying or waiting for their bill.
I didn't react. I tried not to be annoyed since I didn't want
my friend to see me getting angry. I took out my
wallet and paid in cash. I had to ask my guest for
a hundred pesos because I only had two thousand pesos
cash in my wallet and our bill was Php 2090.
I always bring the equivalent cash amount with me
in case this credit card booboo happens.
If this happens in the grocery and there isn't enough
cash, you can just leave the items. But in a restaurant,
you cannot just "leave the items". You've eaten the "items".
I guess Macau's "pay first before being served" policy
would be a better option for this restaurant.
The service charge was Php190.
... and I had to pay for their kind of service.
So, shall i go back?
I've changed my mind. I'll bring the Son to our favorite Italian
restaurant instead and eat Ravioli there.
