Sunset Barbeque at Sofitel

Stargazer Lilies greet you at the lobby of Sofitel.

Spiral ... how I wish dinner was here instead of at the Sunset BBQ.

Since it was raining, the Sunset Bbq was moved 

to a small function room at the back of Spiral.

Light fixtures.

Welcome drinks ... orange martinis which tasted horrible!

Drink all you can. Your choice, beer, soda or iced tea.

Grilled Lamb, Sea Bass ....  in OOOOLDDDD chafing dishes!

what were those red tubs?????  serving spoon rests????

or wash tubs for serving spoons?????

I was too famished, I stopped taking photos of the food stations.

(Lechon & Seafood Station)

My salad plate ... I thought that the salad would be a "safe" 

option / decision ... to start my meal. What could go wrong?

I was wrong! The dressing (thousand island) was SOUR! 

They probably forgot to put some sugar! The potato salad was SOUR too!

I was glad when the waiter came and asked if I was done with my salad.

He probably saw that I wasn't eating the salad and hardly touched it!

My dinner plate .... Penne Puttanesca with giant cloves of garlic! YUK!

Don't they have a chopper or a food processor to mince the garlic?

The Paella Rice ...  just rice and no seafood! It had bits of saffron,

but I have a feeling they used the local kasubha. YUK!

The Sea Bass ... impressive! There was a whole big sea bass, BUT,

it had no taste. It wasn't seasoned with anything! I had to ask for salt and pepper.

.... and soy sauce!!! YUK!

The lamb  chop .... was TOUGH! I gave it to the Hubby!

This is the most disappointing buffet so far!!!

Seafood ... what could go wrong with steamed seafood?

Everything was wrong.  The prawns were TOUGH! 

I don't really like prawns because they tend to be tough when overcooked

or pre-cooked / steamed and left on a bed of ice!

The crabs... curacha crabs... were soggy! ..  they were not fresh!

Oh my goodness ... this is the worst buffet EVER!

Dessert 

...6 scoops of nestle ice cream drizzled with chocolate!

Finally ... something good and they didn't even have to make it!

Bibingka and Puto Bumbong ... the most horrible unpalatable

bibingka I've ever tasted!  The 25 peso bibingkinitan sold at the malls

tastes even better !!! OMG !!!!!!!!! 

I've never used this much exclamation points in any of my blogs!

I placed this last because this is the only thing that tasted good.

I got four pieces of butter, which was really delicious.

And again, they didn't have to make the butter.

The bread, which probably came from the same oven, made

by the same baker as Spiral, were quite good and fresh!

I paid Php 1399 per person for this Sunset BBQ Buffet from Cash Cash Pinoy!

I will never again buy from these discount deals. NEVER!!!!!

Looks are deceiving.  

Most of the time, those pretty little things are actually tiny monsters.

Sometimes, these deals,  that offer huge discounts,

and sold at bargain prices are lemons.
I once bought an Angry Birds Cake at Metro Deal.
The cake was only 8 inches in diameter, about a inch in height,
had this inedible fondant icing and super dry cake!
Never again!
