Advent Wreath... two days to go

A circular garland with five candles is called the Advent wreath.  It represents eternity. Five candles are arranged on the wreath.  Each candle represent the Sundays of Advent One candle is lit each Sunday as part of the Advent Christmas. to represent the spiritual preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ.  Usually, purple candles are used, but lately, blue is sometimes used to distinguish Advent from Lent. The third candle may be rose-colored or pink, while the fifth candle is white.

The first purple candle is the Prophesy Candle. It represents hope in anticipation of the ocming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

The second candle is the Bethlehem Candle which represents love.

The third candle is pink. It is the Shepherd's canle which represents joy.

The fourth purple candle is the Angel's Candle and represents peace.

The fifth candle is lit on Christmas Eve. This is the Christ candle. Usually it is at the center of the wreath. White represents purity because those who receive Jesus Christ are made whiter than snow, become spotless and washed of their sins.
